"the scars are the lines that define ones life, so be bold, be beautiful"
What is seen in the ocular view allows him
(Patrick Stein) to observe, t the world in portions he can handle. In small
tidbits, filtered through the lens so it is obscured for his anxiety would not
be triggered, he snaps away.
His lens focused on pop can tossed away on
a busy sidewalk. Partings of pedestrians continue and observe the photographer,
as he captures pictures of the crumpled vessel.
Patrick sees the aluminum body and the
creases that scar a unique shape of mangled trash, as an opportunity art,
rather than the advertisement that was printed. Now with his camera he allows
the pop can become a true symbol of commercialism, a cancer imposed on today's
society.
His
ability to capture moments was a gift and his pictures were in high demand to
many publishers, who wanted a statement to cause ripples in the mainstream.
Patrick made his way to all angles making him
an obstacle to those who pass by. His lack attention to others caused a lot of
comments and rude jesters to be given and yet Patrick did not pay any attention
as he was immersed in his digital world.
The
angle at that moment was serene crinkle lines speaking out against socialism.
When a sudden clang of the can tumbled off as it was kicked in a midstream stride
and it tumbled to a dead stop at the curb.
Patrick looked up from reality so see a casual
looking woman, who startled herself with kicking the pop can in mid-stride. She
quickly realized that she had interrupted Patrick and she picked up the pop can
and hand it back as gesture of forgiveness. Her sweetheart beauty came through
in her smile when handing the clump metal to Patrick and all he could do was
look at the can.
He had no issues in taking pictures of the
raw beauty of the pop can but past the lens it was just a pop can, where it had
been casted off as trash. A haven for microbes harvesting and waiting for an
unexpected host. So instead he took his camera and focused on her sweetheart
beauty. The angle of the light and her position was perfect for the shot.

She smiled in surprised or in embarrassment to the steady stream of audible clicks that Patrick produced with every picture snapped at her.
"What are you doing?" She giggled her face flushed to a slight pinkish hue. Patrick lower his camera and watched her for a moment before replying.
"Taking your pic."
"I know that but why are you?" she questioned
"Because I had to capture the beauty..."His words trailed off when he realized what he had said and quickly changed the subject.
"My name is Patrick"
She looked at him and smiled her eyes seem to flutter for a brief second, or so Patrick thought. She passed the pop can from hand to the next and extended her left hand out in greeting.
"Nice to meet Patrick I'm Amber." she replied. " So what are you doing Patrick, beside being a human pylon?" she giggled.
Patrick shuttered and could feel his anxiety start to take hold as he could almost detect the germs stained on Amber's hand. He could tell his hesitation caused Amber to feel awkward and before he could explain she stood up, and smirked.
"I guess I'm imposing, sorry for the interruption." Amber walked away continuing on with her day.
Patrick watched intently as Amber walked away in hopes she look back, in hopes he had a chance. Come on he thought to himself in hopes she could somehow hear him.
Before she disappeared into the crowd she did.
